Victory2 Multimedia's Latin Artist of The Month
Chris Alfinez - Latin Artist of the Month
Victory2 Multimedia Latin Artist of the Month - Chris Alfinez

Chris Alfinez wasn’t born in Puerto Rico, but Puerto Rico was born in him. As one of Latin music’s rising stars with boundless talent and crossover appeal, Chris Alfinez is ready to conquer the Latin music world with his silky-smooth voice balanced with the traditional Salsa sound instilled by his ancestors.

Born in the Washington Heights section of New York City, Chris Alfinez was raised both in New York & Miami where he developed a passion for music at an early age. For Chris, music is definitely a family affair. Two of his aunts were singers and his younger brother is a drummer. But his father, who was the lead singer in a Doo-Wop group back in the late 50’s, remains his biggest influence. His father’s love for music encouraged him to become a singer. “One can never learn to appreciate music until there is appreciation and respect for the musicians who create it, no matter how old or new the songs are.” Even though singing came naturally to Chris, he insisted on perfecting his vocal skills as a student at Rollins College in Florida, under the tutelage of Dr. John Sinclair. The result being a mid-tenor range filled with heart and soul.

Professionally, Chris Alfinez has worked with such major recording artists as Stevie B., George Lamond, and most recently, La India, Marc Anthony & Jennifer Lopez. “Every artist has a certain quality which defines them. What I hope to successfully convey are the qualities that have molded me into the artist I am and continue to be.” His professional career has already taken him to diverse audiences throughout the world including Europe, Latin America & the Far East. Combining the traditional rhythm of the Caribbean with a distinct modern flavor, Chris Alfinez is proud to represent his Puerto Rican heritage and American identity in his music and personality. Chris was the featured artist on the Coca-Cola float in New York City’s 2008 Puerto Rican Day Parade.

On Chris’ upcoming CD entitled “Mi Tiempo”, its first single “La Distancia,” is a song capturing the personal anguish of a man away from the love of his life while impatiently awaiting her return. “La Distancia” is comprised of romantic lyrics backed by the up-tempo, traditional Salsa "swing" and has hit the airwaves of Univision radio stations such as La Kalle 105.9FM in New York City. Other songs included on Chris’ upcoming CD contain Salsa tracks of sentimental theme--heartbreak following the end of a relationship, the need for mutual reconciliation and the hope of rekindling a lost love.

“Pa Mi Gente Pobre”, which is a Spanish ‘rival’ to Phil Collins’ “Another Day in Paradise”, is a universal cry for those less fortunate, but manages to find the happiness in faith and song in the hearts of all countrymen.

But the most heartfelt & prideful song entitled “Soy Boricua” is one to capture the hearts of all as he sings of his ancestral homeland of Puerto Rico through the eyes of one not born on the island. With backing vocals by Michael Stuart and rap by Julio Voltio, “Soy Boricua” is one that is sure to be recognized as one of many Puerto Rican theme songs for years to come …………………………. ………………………………………..and that’s just the Salsa side of it.
